Team KVA has grown once again. As tradition upholds, that means we get to sit down with the new recruits and ask them a bunch of questions. Enjoy!
So, welcome Jo! How did you find your first day?
Good! It’s always strange being in a new environment but everyone has been very welcoming.
Tell us a bit about your background…
Originally a primary school teacher, I’ve been a designer for over 7 years now, starting out in print and gradually specialising in digital design. I’ve worked for a large range of corporate clients including Toshiba, Symantec, Gartner and Lego, as well as local charities and start-ups.
What do you know about KVA Digital so far?
They are incredibly friendly people but really on top of all things digital! They really know what they are talking about and are keen to keep ahead of all the latest digital trends.
What is your role at KVA Digital?
Senior digital designer – basically supporting the team with the design work that comes in!
What are you most looking forward to achieving?
I like to keep learning and evolving as a designer, so any opportunity to do new things really excites me!
Are they any areas in particular you are hoping to get involved with?
App design is something I’m really looking forward to doing more of.
Who would be your ideal client to work for?
Oooh, tricky question! I’ve really enjoyed working with clients in the charity sector, and Lego was a massive highlight, but anything health-related or sport-related would be great too!
Now for the important questions…
Describe yourself in three words?
Determined, hard-working, perfectionist.
What is your favourite meal?
Are you an Apple or an Android fan?
What is your favourite song at the moment?
The super summery ‘Malibu’ by Miley Cyrus (not sure I should admit to that!)
What is the first thing you do when you wake up/start your day?
Give my dog Alfie a tummy rub!
What are your pet hates?
Dithering drivers, bad manners.
What is the best advice you have ever been given?
Put things in perspective – there’s always a bigger picture.
What is the worst advice you have ever been given?
I can’t think of any – maybe I discounted it as rubbish advice!
What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done?
Probably quitting my teaching career, giving up my independence and spending all my savings re-training as a graphic designer! I don’t regret it for a minute though.
Your life would be meaningless without…
What's your life motto?
Always do your best.
If a genie gave you a wish what would you wish for?
That’s so hard. I think for there to be less conflict in the world and for people to be more tolerant.
Could you live without your mobile phone?
