Talking recently to gender-focused business publication WeAreTheCity, our Group Account Director, Harriet Gisbourne, explored her experience of being a young woman in a male-dominated industry.

She spoke of the surprise when she first meets clients or prospects, who often react “You’re younger than I expected!”. And while this isn’t meant in an offensive way, it serves to expose the outdated views that many still hold about what makes a successful marketer, and as a result, a successful business.

At KVA, we’re proud to say that regardless of age, gender, or position within the company, ALL are seen as equal and respected in every situation. After all, we’re all people here.

As Harriet mentioned in her interview, it’s always fantastic to hear that this is more than just words – having grown from three to thirty-three employees in three years, we’ve had a lot of new starters, and it’s safe to say that every single one has been astounded by the culture here. In fact, most have said it’s the best working environment they’ve ever experienced.

A positive and supportive working environment coupled with zero-tolerance for a blame culture has created a passionate, skilled and confident team that genuinely cares about each other, our projects, and of course our clients. We want employees to work hard for KVA because they want to, not because they feel they have to.

After all, you spend the majority of your day at work, so it should feel like home!
